On 13 November 2019, the Institute of Research on Portuguese-speaking Countries(IROPC)-CityU hosted a seminar talk for Ph.D & Master programs students with the speaker from Taiwan, Prof. Daniel Cho, the director of the Graduate Institute of European Studies, Tamkang University.
Before the seminar, Prof. Cho received a warm welcome from Prof. Fanqing Kong, Vice Rector of the University and Prof. Kuai Peng Ip, Pro-Rector and Dean of the IROPC. During these encounters, the leaders of CityU expressed the sincere intention for any further possible bilateral cooperation. On behalf of CityU, Prof. Ip delivered a souvenir for appreciating Prof. Cho’s visit as special speaker.
The seminar has been conducted under the topic “Cultural Integration and Its Impacts: the Experience from the Countries on Iberian Peninsula”. The speaker delivered the impact of culture on the foreign affairs of a country, and the integration history on the European Union(EU), the Organization of Ibero-American States(OEI) and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries(CPLP), such as the principle of “United in Diversity”, which generated a conclusion with the importance of the cultural diplomacy for a country. The participants of Ph.D. & Master programs students from IROPC interacted with a series of feedback with the speaker, after listening to the mentioned speech.
