On 27 and 29 of March 2019, Professor José Manuel Simões, the Head of Communication and Media department at University of Saint Joseph (Macau), delivered two conferences on ‘Effective Communication in Portuguese-speaking Countries’ and on ‘How diverse is The Federative Republic of Brazil?’ Both conferences took place on Venue /中葡樓 GD513, in English language. For more than four hours, students and guest exchanged points of view related to Brazil  and it’s cultural diversity as well as on different cultural patterns of Portuguese-speaking countries. Departing from a case-study – Indians Potiguara in Amazonia (Brazil), Professor Simões presented a case of cultural diversity and different perspectives on development.

Professor Simões is an university professor, journalist by training, photojournalist, radio editor, writer, and a commentator. He has travelled to more than 43 countries, including all the Portuguese-speaking Countries. He has also published 10 books about cultural experiences. Professor José Manuel Simões shared his personal and professional experience and discussed the following topics: What are news, positive news, business news, social media and fakes news, Brazil development dilemmas, alternative culture, Brazil ethnology, Brazil musicology, Brazil cultural heritage, cultural preservation, how to creat cooperative relations with PSC?
