IROPC PhD Students Visiting Macau Business

The PhD students from the Institute for Research on Portuguese-Speaking Countries (IROPC) visited Project Asia Corporation on 10 November, the Macau media group that publishes Macau Business magazine.

The group of doctoral students, led by Professor Francisco Leandro, Assistant Dean of IROPC, was received by the Executive Director of Project Asia, José Carlos Matias, who explained the history and editorial strategy of the group, on various media platforms that include magazines, online information (Macau News Agency) and Video. Matias also addressed the opportunities for the media industry, and for Macau's economic agents, created by the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macau Grand Bay project. A sign of the growing interest in this great region, in Mainland China and internationally, is the growth registered in the readers of the Project Asia Corporation's platforms, said Matias.

In the end, the PhD students were presented with copies of Macau Business magazines, which for some will serve as material for their academic research. For student Li Zhijing, the visit "allowed students to have a deeper understanding of the exchange and cooperation between China and Portugal and also of the social development of Macau". The next field visit by PhD students of IROPC in December, will be at the headquarters of Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU), in Macau.
