The Dean and Assistant-Dean of the Institute for Research on Portuguese-speaking Countries/CityU at Opening Ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Guinea-Bissau in Macao


        On the 24th of September 2018, the Honorary Consulate of Guinea-Bissau in Macao has opened on the 13th floor of Golden Dragon Centre. Professor Ip Kuai Peng (Dean of IROPC) and the Associate Professor Francisco José Leandro (Assistant-Dean of IROPC) were   cordially invited to attend the opening ceremony.

         Mr. Chan Meng Kam the Guinea-Bissau Honorary Consul in Macao and Chairman of Council of CityU, stated on the occasion that    Peoples’ Republic of China and Guinea-Bissau relations are developing faster and there is an immense cooperation potential. Likewise,    Mr. Kam declared that he intends to pay a visit to Guinea-Bissau until the end of 2018 to locally study how China and Guinea-Bissau will     further explore their friendship in a mutual beneficial way.

      The Dean and Assistant Dean of IROPC congratulated effusively Mr. Chan Meng Kam soon after his inception as Guinea-Bissau           Honorary Consul in Macao. The Honorary Consulate of Guinea-Bissau in Macao facilitates Sino-Guinea trade cooperation and peoples-to-peoples exchange. In addition this appointment contributes to reinforce the role of MSAR as a Business and Trade Cooperation Service     Platform, between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
